PODCAST DESCRIPTION
What does it mean to be a woman after God's own heart and what does God say about who you are?
In this Mother's Day message, Pastor Cecy Biro draws from the lives of three women of the Bible, Eve, Mary, and Deborah, to remind us that God has always had a purpose, an identity, and a calling for every woman He created. And whether you're a mother or not, this message carries a word for you.
From the Garden of Eden to the battlefields of Israel, we see women who were not perfect, but who said yes to God and changed everything around them because of it.
In this message you'll discover:
- Why women are carriers of life and why there has always been a war against them
- What Eve's name teaches us about the gift God placed inside every woman
- How Mary's simple response, "I am the Lord's servant," is a prayer that can transform your life
- What it looks like to make room for the Word of God instead of your own agenda
- How Deborah arose as a mother in Israel and why God is calling you to arise too
- Why sometimes you have to prophesy over yourself and sing a new song, even when you don't feel like it
You were not created to stay small, carry shame, or live under oppression. God has a purpose for you that was written before you were born and He is faithful to fulfill it.
Wake up. Arise. Sing a new song.
Key Scripture: Psalm 138:8; Genesis 3:15; Luke 1:38; Psalm 40:8; Judges 4-5
This message was delivered by Pastor Cecy Biro on Sunday, May 11th, 2026 at Faith Alive Family Church in Saskatoon, SK.

We're so excited this Sunday morning because I believe it's a very special Sunday, not just because it's Mother's Day. Amen. And when I said that in the beginning, you know, not only for the mothers, because I know for so many people this day, you might be listening to me and you're like, I'm not a mom, right? And maybe this day sometimes is a hard day for many. But I do want to encourage you with the word of God today that there is hope, that there is joy, that there are promises of God for all of us. So either you're a mom or not a mom today, God loves you. And that's what I want to honor all the women in this room this morning. Amen. Amen. Can we do that again? Can we honor all the women in this room? Amen. Amen. It's always a privilege to share the word of God. So my hobby, he asked me, he's like, I wind you up on Mother's Day. I'm like, what? Okay. So it's it's an honor always to share the word of God. Are you guys ready this morning? Amen. Yeah, are you guys ready for the word of God today? Amen. And I see new faces, I see new people. I just want to welcome you and we're excited that you're here. If you're watching from home, we are Faith Alive Family Church, streaming from Saskatoon. So if you're ever around the area, come and visit us. It will be an honor to have you in this place. Amen. So I just want to say this before I get into the word. I'm super excited for the word of God today because I believe has any pastor, any speaker, the word of God before sharing it, it has to change you first. It has to touch us first. Amen. So you guys can receive it because if I receive what the Lord spoke to me to share, you know, what I'm sharing this morning, if it doesn't do anything inside of me, it won't do anything inside of you either. So it has to touch me first. Amen. But I do want to say this before I get in the word of God. Don't be in a rush when after the service. Amen. Uh take time. Let's not do it during the service because I want, I want us to honor the word of God. Amen. I want us to honor the word of God. And I know being religious, let's do that at the end of the service. We'll give you time to do your pictures, everything else that is happening. But when the word of God is happening in this place, how many believe that the word of God is powerful? Amen. It's powerful. So when this is, you know, when this is happening inside, right? Let's honor that. Amen. And I thank you, the ushers, for doing a wonderful job on that. So unless you're in an emergency, you're with the kids, you know, you have to, we get it. But if nothing else, put your phone on notifications, right? Turn that off. You know what I mean? Just let's be in the word of God today. Amen. Can we do that? Can we do that, church? Amen. For the next minutes that we have here in the word of God. I just wanna I wanna just tell you that we need to honor this time when it comes to the word of God. Amen. Let's honor the word of God. Amen. Okay, so uh you got I prepare a small, you know, you can put it up if you want, just it's not a big one. So that's what we're talking about today, especially for women, amen. So I want to encourage the man today. You're like, oh, that message is not gonna be for me because it's addressed to women. No, I believe God has a word for all of us this morning, amen. So you're gonna be learning, you're gonna be listening to what I put together here for you guys. But has the men, how many men are in the house? Oh, wow, like four. How many men are in the house? There you go. So as we as we study the word of God and these women of the Bible, don't be like, yeah, that was for the moms, that was for the women in the house. No, I I believe that the what if it is written in the Bible, it's for all of us. Amen. So a woman after God's own heart. That's the word that I'm sharing with you guys today. And the scripture verse is in Psalms 138, verse 8. I was gonna say, for those who have your Bible, you can open up your Bibles, you can open up your phone if you have to, right? So the word of God says like this, and read it from the ESV, and you guys have it right there in the slide. So it says like this the Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. I'm gonna read it one more time, amen. And this is David saying it. The Lord, can we all read it together? It's just right there. One, two, three. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. How many believe this morning that God has a purpose for all of us? Amen. We are not an accident, we're not a mistake. And if someone told you that you are an accident, if someone told you, oh no, we didn't want to have you, you were not in our presence. You know, you were like, oops, that was an oops. I gotta tell you this morning, we're not an oops from God. God plants us, God had an idea for us since the beginning. Amen. So, women, we were created with purpose. Say with me, purpose. Say with me, identity. God not just gives us purpose, but he also gave us identity. Amen. And we see it in the world, how much, you know, that's a struggle nowadays. Who's pretty, you know, what's out, what is not out, what should be doing, what should we not be doing. We see this, you know, how even women have been using in the world, you know, just for commercials and you see TV, you see advertisement, and this is how women should look. And this is how women should behave. But I just gotta tell you, and I someone's gotta say amen to that. How many believe that the word of God really teaches us how women are supposed to be in according to the word of God? What amen? Is that for God? Okay, don't doubt it. Some of you are like, uh, it's true, like clap on a clap, always clap for God, amen. So we're not what the world says that we are. I want to say one more time. We're not what the world says that we are. We are, I am what the word of God says that I am. I am what the word of God says that I am, and I can do everything that the word of God says I can do. Amen. I can face everything, any judge and in this world, because of what the word of God says that I can face. Amen. So we are created with purpose. Say it one more time: purpose. And that's what David said it here. I love this verse, and he says, the Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. If you're a mom this morning and you're listening, God had a purpose in mind so you can become a mom. And if you're listening today and you're like, I'm not a mom yet, but I want to be become a mom one day, God has a plan for that. How many say amen to that? And just in this room, there are so many testimonies of God's goodness and God's faithfulness. I remember, well, some of you, oops, sorry, some of you um saw Sielle this morning, she's worshiping there and dancing. And the other day, someone came to me and she said, uh, I love how you know Sielle is, you know, she's getting in the worship, he's getting in the word. And I'm like, you know, as a mom, that's a price, right? Just to see our children loving God. And I believe for all of us, that's our goal at the end. Our kids won't remember what bicycle you gave them, our kids won't remember what big gift they got for Christmas. Our kids are gonna remember the word of God that was implanted in their heart and what they see as modeling a spiritual life. Amen. But yet you still can give them good gifts. You know, you still can bless them, give them good stuff, amen. So we are created with a purpose, we are God's idea. Can you say that with me? I am God's idea. We're God's idea, and we see it that since the beginning. Amen. I love this. Being a mom isn't a job that you apply for, interview for, and then accept it. Being a mom is a reward from God, it's a blessing, a privilege, and a lot of work as well. It's not just, you know, you're a mom and you have all these beautiful kids. It's it's a responsibility to you that God has given us. Amen. Being a mom is a God-given idea that is starting in the Garden of Eden. And I will take you there soon with these passages. The Bible speaks about moms, about their goodness, their kindness, and the intentions for life. So we see it all in the Bible. You know, when he talks about women, when he talks about identity, when he talks about purpose, when he talks about what and you know, how God created us. Amen. And I want to take us to the first one. So with God's help, because I get super excited in the word, and I easily spend a lot of time just on one of them. With me, I want to take you guys so we can study this three, four women of the Bible that I do believe God is gonna speak to us through their life. Amen. Are you with me this morning? Yeah, okay, so we can look at the first one. So the first one that I want to talk to you is about Eve. And I love I love the definition of her name. And I'm gonna go a little bit slow so you guys can understand the meaning because even just with the meaning of her name, I believe we'll take that to our hearts. Amen. Okay, so Eve. The name Eve means giver of life. Say with me, giver of life. That's what her name means. And also mean mother of all who have life. So it's just simple as that, right? She's a giver of life or life-giving. Say with me, life-giving. And she was the first one that God created. So in Genesis 3, maybe you won't be able to read it very well, but I know a little. Okay, I'll try to read it from here. Genesis 3:15, and he says like this I will put enmity between you and the woman. Say with me, woman. And between your offsprings and hers, he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. And we know what this passage is talking about. How many of you are read this before? Amen. So you're familiar with this passage, right? So you can go back. I won't have time to go through the whole story in Genesis and read all this because I have to move along. I just want to give you guys her example. Amen. So we know that it's talking about Jesus Christ, right? This verse is pointed up, right, to Jesus, right? That he says very clearly, and between your offering and hers, he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. Are we clear with that? Right? That's very clear. I don't want to stay too long in that verse because let's move on here. So, but I do want to point it out at this. Number one, there are two things about her. It's her name. Say with me her name. Her name, as we read it, or I read it, it says that it's life-giving. And that's exactly what who we are as women. We are life givers. Amen. We are we give life to those around us. Number two, we have been in war since day number one. Have you ever wondered why there is so much attacks against women around the world? And I'm gonna read you some statistics here soon because when I read this verse, I'm like, oh well, it's just, you know, it's not only God, you know, talking to Eve, right? When she sins against God and she's giving her this, you know, I will put enmity between you and this and this, and this is what's gonna happen, but we know at the end who's gonna win. I believe there is more than that. And if you ever wonder that, why there is so much struggle, why there is so much war against women, it's because we are carriers of life. We are carriers of life. And for some of you, it might take one, two, three, four times until until you get that, but that's okay. I will I'll go deeper here with you. Okay, so just pay attention to this. Why again? I'm asking, I'm saying again this question why there's so much war against women according, and we see this passage, right? Genesis 3:15. So let me read you this a little bit. So the statistics shows in India, some places permit selective abortion by gender. In other words, if a woman find out she will have a girl, she could abort her immediately. Like, oh, you're gonna have a girl, you don't want it, that's okay, you can get her out. You know, you don't have to have this girl. The majority of girls are aborted simply for being female. What to say about human trafficking in Canada? I was like, you know, when I was preparing on Friday and just preparing for this message, like just praying and you know, just reading through all this. My heart, I just felt that the presence of the Holy Spirit just in my office. I just are bawling and crying out, Lord, how am I gonna even be able to share this with the congregation? Because these are these are heavy things, and this is happening. This is not a storytelled, this is happening, and that's what we see and hear so much going on against women. Pay attention to this. In Canada, in 2025, like last year, 93% of cases were women and girls on human trafficking, ages 12 and 13. In Canada. And my husband was telling me because I was like with teary eyes, I'm like, oh my goodness, this really hit me. I don't like feel like you know, intercession coming up. And he's like, Well, you were telling me this, right? In Ottawa or Montreal, you said Montreal? He had a pastor meeting, uh, the national call on Wednesday, and he won, he was saying that there was a ministry they're sharing that just in Montreal, like they have a ministry going because like human trafficking is so big in Montreal, like for little boys and little girls, like, oh, my heart hit me. You know what I mean? So, how many believe we have to pray for our nation? How many believe we need revival in all Canada? Amen. Why there is so much attacks at one woman? Genesis 3:15. Amen. Hmm. Latin America. I have to Google it because you got a Latino here, right? What's happening in Latin America? Pay attention to this, guys. Look, in Latin America, 10,000 every year, that's what they recorded of human trafficking. We're talking about girls. Girls. In Asia, 150,000 women are trafficked every year. There is a war against women, and we have to ask why. Because we are carriers of life. We are carriers of life. That's what Eve, her name means life-giving. Amen. I gotta stick to my notes because I've I'm telling you, I was like, oh Lord. Eve, the first woman created by God and the first woman to conceive a child. She was the first one. Could you just imagine her, her belly growing and just the life that was? She was the first one. There was not a book, there was not a mother, there was no someone else that grandma say, Hey, this is what's gonna happen to you, Eve, when you get pregnant. She was the first one. Could you just picture her for a moment? Was she starting like you know, noticing it happening inside of her? Maybe she was a little bit scared. We don't know. Amen. Eve, she had to leave and face the consequences of her bad choices, her bad decisions. She never should have entertained a conversation with the enemy. Women, we need to be careful with that. Let's not entertain conversations with the devil. That's where all error started. Amen. Yeah, she seen, yeah, she did this, you know, to her husband, whatever, but she will she'll never entertain that conversation with him. What voices are we listening? What lies are we believing? Amen. After sinning against God, she experienced shame, blame and pain, but also forgiveness. I'm gonna say it one more time. After sinning against God, she experienced shame, blame, and pain, but also forgiveness. So, women, if you are in this room, and this could be for everyone, right? But I do believe it is specifically for someone. You know, if you are like hurt, maybe you got you got hurt, you know, in a relationship with your mother. Maybe you got hurt by a relationship with a friend. Maybe you went through something as a woman, and you are experiencing shame, blame, and pain because you sinned against God, or you even didn't sin, but someone was done to you. There are good news this morning for you, and I'm here to tell you God wants to heal you, God wants to remove the blame, God wants to remove the shame, God wants to build you back together. She had to face the consequences, and sometimes we have to, amen. But there is hope in Jesus Christ, amen. Has her name means giver of life, and I love this. This is, you know, when I was writing all this, I was like, thank you, Jesus. And I uh that just came to my mind quickly, and I'll share this with you because her name means giver of life. A woman has the capacity to improve things, and that's a that's a gift that we all have as women. We have the capacity, we have been given the gift to improve things around us. You give a woman, you know, you give her in this room, and then all the sudden, you know, we start saying, Yeah, that picture can go here. No, we can change this color, no, we can move the couch. No, so we have the capacity to improve things because we're carriers, we're givers of life. Someone says amen to that. We we make things better, in other words. Amen. A room, a meal, and even sometimes a husband. We help then, amen. How many women are here that help their husband? Yeah, you help them around, yeah. And maybe they're dressing up this way, you're like, mm-mm, no, honey, no, no, that doesn't all but it's okay. You know, those socks with holes, no garbage, garbage. No, you don't need that shirt anymore. You know, we make things better. Amen. We do. I want to read you this because that goes so well with Eve. Are you still with me? Yeah, William Golden. That he was a British novelist, and he says something like this anything you give to a woman, she will make it better. If you give her a house, she will make it at home. If you give her food, she will make it a meal. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. And I remember this, you know, I was thinking about my mom, and some of us in this room, our moms are ready with Jesus. Amen. So I was thinking and praying, you know, the other day, and you know, especially this day. And I remember my mom, and some of us had that capacity, that gift, I will say. Um, you know, I remember my mom, you know, we'll come home and probably there were just a few things in the fridge, and you know, she probably didn't have a meal prepared yet. And we will be like, mom, what were you, what are you gonna cook? What are you gonna do? Like, what are you gonna put together? And and somehow my mom had this capacity, this gift that all the time, don't worry. And whatever it was left, a carrot, an onion, and this, and this, she will throw everything in, and there's meal. And we're like, wow, and some of us are like that in some way, right? We sometimes we don't know, right? What I'm gonna cook, what I'm gonna do. But you just give a couple vegetables, you know, you put a meat here, you easily we come up with a plan, isn't it? Or it's just me? No, right? So we are givers of life. Amen. We get we make things better, like Eve.
unknownCan you?
SPEAKER_00up the second one. Now, the second woman that I wanna uh I wanna take you and study a little bit of her because I love it. And it's just her her attitude towards God's plans is like the one that I'm like thank you God that's what we need. And this is Mary. And I'm talking about the mother of Jesus. We know that there are different Marys in the Bible but I I want to see this one specifically. Mary and in Luke that's one of my favorite verses Luke 138 in the NLT and it says like this Mary responded I am the Lord's servant may everything you have said about me come true. And then the angel left her I'm gonna read it one more time. Mary responded I am the Lord's servant may everything you have said about me come true and then the angel left her can we just just stop for a minute there and think about Mary the mother of Jesus probably she had plans probably you know she she already was engaged she probably you know was thinking of everything you know in her life but all of a sudden right God had another plan for her life and he sends this angel right and you guys know the story that's why I don't want to stay too long in there I want to go straight to the point with her but then the angel came right and appeared to her and talked to her about God's plan. And that's the response that she has she didn't doubt she didn't complain she didn't say but what about my life? What about my career? What about all the dreams that I have in my life she simply responded I am the Lord's servant may everything that you have said about me come true. All the plans that you have for my life let it be in my life how many can say that this morning too how many can say that prayer I think I believe it's a prayer that you can say to God I am your servant everything that you have for my life let it be Lord everything that you have spoken about my life I want it in my life amen and that's what she said now let's see the definition of her name her name means Mara that's how we will translate it and I'm pronouncing it right I don't know but that's that's that's the origin of her name Mara. And in other words it means bitterness that's what Mary means her name bitterness but others also have found that her name means the chosen one. So Mary you know even though she's the how many better ones are here that needs to be free in Jesus' name if you're caring with bitterness in your heart God wants to fill you with joy. So think about that for a moment her name and remember in those times not right now but in old times then the name was everything for them they will not just come and say hey what name do you like? Do you like this name? Yeah I like how it sounds let's pick that one for the little one they really plan and thought about the names because for them when a name was given to a child you're speaking destiny you're speaking purpose you're speaking identity amen so so for her think about for a moment her name means bitterness but I love this about God that it doesn't matter what name we can carry or we think we have or someone was giving you know a name to us you know I love this about God that it doesn't matter because at the end his plan will be completed in our life amen so it doesn't matter the bitterness it doesn't matter what I mean God had a plan for her and I love that she was the chosen one so if you're here this morning I want to tell you this from God even though people have named you or given you different names for God you are the chosen one oh you didn't believe that for God you are the chosen one God has chosen you God has chosen you amen by God to carry out the plan of redemption for humanity. And I was reading last night more you know deep about her story and he says and he's you know we think about Mary like what a privilege you know carry Jesus inside and the Savior and all this but I love when I was reading last night the whole chapter it pretty much he said that she got a little bit of scared she got a little bit confused in her humanity but yet she said I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me whatever God you want to do in my life here I am and that's exactly what God is looking in this room. People that will say God I don't know what's going on in my life but I am your servant and I'm gonna do everything that you want me to do. Amen she didn't doubt this is what I love about Mary she didn't doubt or question God's plans for her life so we shouldn't either she heard the word of God she heard the word that the angel delivered and she didn't question it. Yes she was afraid yes maybe she was you know a little bit like worried what was gonna happen but yet she simply humbled before God and said here I am Lord amen can you see yourself as Mary not been praying you know but just you know her attitude towards the Lord what I love about her is this she made room for the word of God in her life instead of her own plans I want to say one more time she made room for the word of God in her life instead of her own plans. In Psalms 4840 verse 8 and it says like this that's the next slide I think I delight to do your will oh my God your law is within my heart I love this because in other words she said well God you know okay I have all these plans I have all this but you know what I'm gonna make room in my life for your word God is looking for people in this room that are gonna say God the word that you have given me I'm making room in my heart for your word to be inside of me and I'm gonna delight in the word that you have spoken on me. And I'm gonna ask you this morning have you received a promise from God in the past only one yes have you received a promise from God in the past in your life? Yes are you believing God for breakthrough? Are you believing God for a miracle in your life and in your family? Are you believing God for his plan to be fulfilled in your life then you have to remove your own agenda because when God gives us a word and we're not making room for that word in us it's like God say well I deliver it it will be if you order pizza you know you put this order I want pizza to come to my house and it's so expensive nowadays hey so we're starting making it at home you know and the order gets there you order food online and the food comes and you're like yeah I ordered this pizza pizza is coming you know it's coming the food is coming but it's right there at the door but if you never open that door for the pizza to get inside of your heart and get into your table and putting in your plate and grab it with your hands and put it in your mouth and eat it and swallow it you will never have pizza so it's exactly the same with the word of God God says I'm gonna bless you. God says I'm gonna heal you God says I'm gonna set you free God says I'm gonna provide for your family. God says I'm gonna answer that prayer that you've been praying and God says okay I'm giving you the word what are we gonna do with the word I gotta make room oh God I'm too busy Thursday night I can't no make it Lord it's another extra day oh I got in trouble there everyone went quiet oh I have to be early you know to serve in a ministry oh someone is asking me to do this God I can I can't but yes we want the word in us she made room for the word that it was given to her if she made room in her heart so I should make room in my heart for the word of God so I can see it come through amen I can see it with my eyes touch it with my hands the miracle that I'm praying I love what he says in here even Jesus came through the world by a woman's womb he could have chosen to just show up the mighty son of God he could just do it right say I'm not gonna need anyone I'm the son of God I'm oh you know I'm just gonna show up but he didn't he didn't Jesus didn't he he wanted to honor motherhood that's what I love about him right he wanted to honor that what about Mary what else about Mary she was the only human being who was present both at Jesus' birth and also a witness to his death because motherhood is a sacrifice it wasn't all glory it wasn't all about the miracles it was think about her for a moment like if you have a child here in this room could you imagine just seeing your son and your daughter just in the at the cross carrying everything like I couldn't so she knew that she was the only witness that it was there that she could see when Jesus was born but also when she when he we he he went right he died she saw him come as a baby and saw him die as her savior even Mary she recognizing you know has her savior now what are other things about Mary and then we're done with Mary right I'm doing really good with the time are you guys still with me yeah so and I'll finish this about Mary number one what can we learn from her she was available to be used by God just simple as that Mary was available to be used by God are you available to be used by God are you ready you know available that means like anytime can you say that with me anytime anytime that wants to use us right can we say God here I am you don't have to look somewhere else you don't have to find someone else because unavailable God I am here you can use me that was her attitude she said I have my plans I have my life I'm doing this and this and this but God if that's what you want for my life here it is God she humbled herself to she knew and applied the word of God three simple and ready I love that she was simple and ready to do everything God wanted her and her response to the unexpected was surprising. The angel didn't deliver the whole message right like the whole this is what's gonna happen and this A B C nothing he just spoke a word and she just needed to say yes God that's what we say Luke 138 and Mary responded I am the servant of the Lord let it be done in my life everything that you have said about me and that's exactly what God is looking in us. Amen response Son of us I wonder what would have happened if if you know if the angel was just show up to son of us will have been like can you give me more details can you provide this and this and this and this I just want to know the whole thing she didn't yes she trembled yes she feared but yet she submit to the will of God and that's what God is looking in us. So is there someone in this room that can say that to the Lord and say God here is my life you can use it unavailable for you God there's someone here that can say unavailable for you God let it be done in my family let it be done in my family let it be done in my family myself in my nation let it doesn't matter my agenda it doesn't matter what I think that I should be doing or not doing what you know why sometimes we get in so much trouble because we don't ask God you know why we we're getting so much like oh I should have done that I shouldn't have said that you got that sometimes all angels here trust me why we mess it up sometimes we need to surrender amen to him and listen and just say God what do you want instead of my own my own thing my own plans my on God is just willing that you can come here it is here's my eraser of the eraser of my life erase it all and then he can do his will in us amen okay the last one I only have time more minutes praise the Lord the last one I want to talk to you guys because there are so many women I this what this is the word that I felt a woman's own heart because we see it in the Bible we see it so many times how God has used this powerful women of God not perfect they none of them were perfect but yet they wanted to do God's will amen so the last one you can put it up and that's can you guys read it say it aloud Deborah and that's in Josh's we find her story sorry we find her story in Josh's four in chapter four and chapter five but we won't read it all 57 I love how he says in here villagers in Israel will not fight say with me will not fight they held back until I I love that until I Deborah I want you guys to put your name right there until I sessie right say your name until I he says I rose until I arose a mother in Israel Holy Spirit I ask you that you will help me to deliver the next part of here because there's a lot about her I love this character in the Bible now let's start with her name the meaning of her name you guys ready for this only two are you guys ready for this all right we're gonna have a good meal after I hope husbands fathers grandpas you know bless the women here okay Deborah Deborah her name means honey bee like a bee right she's a worker worker like the bee that's what her name means so some of us many of us I believe we have some Deborah inside of us because some of us we cannot stop right sometimes you go go go go go go go go go go go well that's a Deborah inside of you because that's what her name means she's worker like the bee. Every woman created by God carries something in Deborah inside we're hard working we're strong where are the strong women in this house woo all right we're strong and that's what her name means we're hard working a strong woman producing with our own hands. I love that so let's see who was she okay who was this woman that we're talking about in Josh 4 right that's the whole story about her so number one I love how the Bible says it's in Josh 4 4 and it says like this Deborah the wife of Lapidov who was a prophet who was judging Israel at that time so she was a judge right she was the only woman in the Bible that is recorded as a judge. There were other prophets in the Old Testament there were prophets but she was the only one who was the judge and what what was a a judge right there were no prime ministers there were not presidents right she had to make sure that the whole nation of Israel was okay how many of you have heard about her before no yeah some of you for some of you like you know those who believe like women this and women no she was the judge in that time amen she was a wife I love that because the Bible when it starts talking about her says that she's a wife right she didn't just say this is her area this is her ministry no she was a wife right so she was a wife she was a judge she was a prophet she what what what does that mean you won't be like Pastor says what is it that she was a prophet that means that she was the voice of God for the people of Israel she that was the function of a prophet she needed to hear from God and deliver it to the people that's a huge responsibility that she had amen so think about that for a moment now what okay but I'm not a judge I'm not in a social you know political influence but yet you got family around you but yet you got children but yet you got coworkers and yet God can use you as an influence of her of his kingdom to touch their life amen yeah that's for God go ahead yeah and I love this about her because she needed to take care of her spiritual life think about that for a moment she needed to hear the voice of God to to rule the nation and that how can we apply that for us let not just our tasks and responsibilities and things that we're doing you know that we sometimes get super busy that we sacrifice our spiritual life God is not expecting that we need to be taking care of what's inside of us amen easily during the day we get busy and do many many many things and maybe you know the week went by and you even didn't have a time to pray to open your Bible I want to encourage you like her you know that her spiritual life that was number one for her and then the rest it was added amen I love what she says in here um in verses eight and nine I don't know if you can put it up if no I'm gonna read it but this is this is what she did right she calls the commander of Israel his name was Barak and told her I will go because she's saying hey we've been oppressed for many many years now it's time that we go and fight the enemy so she calls this man she calls Barak that's in judges if you want to look at it Judges 4 A and I and it says like this I love I love what he says in here and Barak told her I will go but only if you go with me very well she replied I will go with you but you will receive no honor in this venture for the Lord's victory over Caesara will be at the hands of a woman. So Deborah went with Barak to Kadesh I don't know if you are getting this or not and now soon I'm gonna I'm starting to arrive let's put it this way hold with me for a few more minutes the people of Israel they have been in oppression for over 20 years. No one year not two years 20 years being oppressed by the enemy and people were afraid no one was doing anything you know just to help with this situation and that's what the Bible says about Deborah that one day she was sitting under the palm tree and then she received this word from the Lord and then she calls the commander and says hey hey gather 10,000 men gather everyone because God is keeping Giving you the victory. You need to go fight the enemy. And I wonder so many times we see destruction around us. We see the enemy entering into our homes. We see the enemy entering, you know, in that in our in our children's life, in our husbands, in our marriages, in our society. And we do nothing about it. So that's why this call about Deborah is for all the she. I love what when you know the Bible doesn't say that she describes herself as a job. I just read you that. Because when I study her life, that's what the conclusion I came out. She was a prophet, she was this, she was this, and this. But when the Bible speaks about herself, when she describes herself, she doesn't describe herself as you know, the prophet. I am this, I am this. No, the Bible says that she describes herself as the mother of Israel. That's the self-description that she gave herself. I, Deborah, arose as the mother of Israel. In other words, she was done with the enemy. In other words, she was done with the oppression. In other words, she got tired of the same and the same and the same until one day I just imagine her being under that palm tree, and God is speaking to her. That's why the women that are here in this room and the many, we need to hear God's voice. We need God's treasuries against the enemy. We need an worship team. You guys can come up. She was done with the oppression. She was done with the abuse. She said, I rose. I arose as a mother. As a mother in Israel. And I love this. Because the commander, could you just I wonder what was happening, you know, even with men in Israel in that time. They were all afraid, probably. No one could face the enemy. And she calls, you know, Barak. I just see my enemy. Honey, can you come up quickly here? Fast, run. But run, run, run. You're not fast enough. Okay, there. You're there, you're the commander, right? Maybe he was having, you know, a pinha collara, blah blah blah over there. I don't know. And all of the sadden. She just receiving this word like this. I'm done with the abuse. She remembered her name. That it means honey be hard worker and strong. She's like, I'm gone with this abuse. I'm gone with this oppression. And then she calls Barack, right? Marak. He probably wasn't a little bit afraid. Like, we don't know, right? Yeah? Yeah, maybe like just like that. You know? Not sure what was gonna happen. And the word of God. The instructions that God gave for was like, hey, gather all the men in this city. Let's say it like this, right? Gather all the men, and we're gonna fight against the enemy. But what was his answer? What what did he want it to go by himself or no? No, he wanted her to go. You wonder why? I think you have your answer. That's a good one. That's a good one. And sometimes we don't have to question. We just need to be, we just need to obey for what God is saying. She received instruction. She grabbed him and said, Hey, God is saying this. You gotta do this, you gotta grab all the men and go fight the enemy. But he's he said it like that. I'm not going. That's what the Bible says, A9. I'm not going unless you come with me. But I love her answer because she's profit, and I don't have the time. Believe me, that's gonna be for another Mother's Day celebration, probably. The second part of that chapter talks about jail. Because when she's prophesying, she said, I will go with you. Think about this. When she's going with him, I love this. She's not doubting that the victory was gonna, like, she knew the victory is won. She had already received the plan, she had already received what God said it. So she's going with him, knowing that she's gonna fight the enemy, but because God has given her the victory already. And I wanna say this when she prof, because it's a prophecy, don't believe that. Oh, she's talking about herself. Some people believe it like that. I I think it can be both ways. I'm not saying this is how it is. Because when she says, when she says it like this, but you will receive no honor in this venture. For the Lord, this is what she said, for the Lord will give you the victory over Caesara, and it will be because of the hand on the hands of a woman. It will be because this woman, and she's not only talking about herself, she's she's talking about Yel, right? That's the other lady in the Bible. We'll we'll leave that for another sermon, right? That's another part of the story. You can read it all Josh 4. She was done with it, and the last part, you you can go sit down. Thank you. We got the victory in Jesus Christ, amen. So if you're here today, and I I run out of time, if you're here today and you're struggling, you're facing an enemy, you've been hurt, you've been carrying like shame and blame, like Eve, God wants to extend forgiveness to you this morning. And if you are like in a in your life that, no, I haven't sinned against God. I think I have a pretty good life, but maybe your agenda, your own will is getting too much on the way that the word of God doesn't have room for your life. Maybe you can be like Mary today. Or maybe you're facing a situation, a giant, like you know, an oppression. Maybe the enemy is getting too much in your house, stealing the peace, stealing the finances. I believe this word is for someone because I do believe it. You know, and you just feel like you know, too much. And there are people in this room that they're like, I don't know what's going on with my life. I've been under so much attack, so much attack, I don't know what's happening. Maybe God is calling you to, you know, to rise up, to arise like Deborah did, and say, until I arose a mother of Israel, and that you're gonna face the enemy, you're gonna go forward because you know that God has given you the victory in Jesus Christ. But I do want to finish with this last characteristic that she had, and you can stand up because so good, so good, so good. Deborah, she was a wife, a judge, a prophet, she was a warrior. That's what she did, right? She went to the battle and faced the enemy. But there was one more thing in her life that I love about her, and that's all of us here today. You guys wanna hear it? Yeah, or you're done. She was a worshiper. The Bible says in Judges 5, 2, 3, and 7. It says like this. You can stand up and just hear. I'm gonna read it slow so you guys can understand it. When the princes in Israel take the lead, when the people willingly offer themselves, pay attention to that. That's what the word says, willingly offer themselves, praise the Lord. Villagers in Israel will not fight, they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose a mother in Israel. Wake up. Look at what she said to herself. This is a song she's writing in the chapter five of Judges. She said, Wake up, Deborah, wake up, wake up, wake up and sing a new song. Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up and sing a new song. What is she doing? She's prophesying over herself, and sometimes you will need to prophesy over yourself when you don't have strength enough to stand up. Sometimes when there's no one around you, when there's not a pastor, when there's not a leader, when there is no mother, when there's no friend, when there's no one, there's you're gonna face moments in your life that you will feel spiritually in the floor with no strength, with no joy, with so much attack, but you will have to prophesy over yourself like she did and say something. Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, and sing a new song to the Lord. Because it's easy to sing a song to the Lord when everything goes well, when money's in the account, when all your family's doing super great, when even yourself, you got, you know, you just got the wonderful news, you know, and you're feeling you're walking in the clouds, all this joy. That's easy to sing a new song, but there's something else when you don't inside feel like you wanna sing a new song, when the days are harder. Oh, when you feel the oppression and you know the enemy's right there, but you're gonna speak to yourself, you're gonna stand up, you're gonna push back that anxiety, you're gonna push back that oppression, you're gonna push it back that depression. When you even don't wanna get up and get out of bed and come to work, when you don't wanna visit anyone, you're like, I don't wanna answer anyone, I don't wanna talk to anyone, uh uh uh. And the sun can be shiny and bright, but inside of you, you feel the oppression inside of you. There will be moments that you will have to prophesy to yourself and say, Jamie, everything is gonna be okay. And say, Amber, you're gonna pass through, and say, Catherine, you just have to trust. You don't have to worry, you don't have to freak out. God is gonna open the sea in front of you, and you're gonna pass through. Wake up, wake up. She said it to herself. Wake up and sing a new song. Because there is a new song. When you have gone through the hardest of hardest, and you can stand in the presence of God and raise your hands to Him, you can sing a new song. Bailey, we can sing a new song. Yes, we still can have a new song for God.
