Do Nothing Without The Holy Spirit
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Sometimes God interrupts our plans with a single, clarifying word. This week our guest, Pastor Robert Morales from Guatemala, shared the message he felt God gave specifically for our church: do nothing without the Holy Spirit. Before the early church stepped into everything Jesus had called them to, He told them to wait in the city until they were clothed with power from on high. Pastor Robert reminds us that we are simply vessels of clay, humble containers meant to be filled with the greatest treasure of all, the presence of God. Drawing on the potter's house in Jeremiah, the practical picture of continually filling our tank, and the disciples' hunger to be taught to pray, he calls us away from relying on strategies and models and back to a simple, daily dependence on the Spirit. He also shares the stunning testimony of Almolonga, a Guatemalan town so transformed by prayer that its prisons closed and its very soil was healed. It is a stirring invitation to surrender fully and be filled. Come and be refreshed with us.

Este es el que habla español. This is the Spanish one. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Alguien puede decir fuerte.
SPEAKER_01Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_00Come on, let's say it strong. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_01Vamos. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
unknownHallelujah.
SPEAKER_01Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Come on. Glory a Dios. Come on. Glory to God.
unknownGloria.
SPEAKER_01Glory to God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_00Let's give a round of applause to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
unknownHallelujah.
SPEAKER_00Hallelujah. The one who died for his church and rose and king and lives forever and ever. Is here this morning. Come on, let's give a round of applause to the King of Kings. Through his love and his mercy brought us to this place. We give him all the honor. Let's give him that a praise. You may be seated. We're so glad, my wife and I, to be here. We're so pleased to be here with you. Because we know it's the will of God. And there's no better place to be than in the middle of God's will. The safest place to be. I want to honor someone that is already with the Lord now. It was so awesome to be with him. And we became brothers. He was like my big brother. And we traveled together a lot. And it was always a great time. Sometimes we would laugh. And sometimes he would laugh at me. And sometimes I was laughing at him too. And he was the person that God used. For me to come to Canada. That I would fall in love with this nation. 20 years ago. So let's give a round of applause to Jesus. Of Kim Wheeler. My friend who is with the Lord. Praise the Lord for Kim's life. Gloria a Dios. Glory to God. Gracias a él. Thanks to him. He was the instrument that God used. And that's why I'm here today. And I've met beautiful people. Your pastors. Pastor Brent. Pastor Brent. Pastor Barr. Their family. Pastor Adam. Pastor Adam. Ceci, Pastor Ceci, their family. And all these beautiful people who are here today. Some of you I've already known for a long time. And now I'm meeting more. And you're more beautiful every time I come. Philip and his family, him's brother. I'm just grateful to God. Because God used that man. Let's just praise the Lord for him one more time. Hallelujah. Amen. You may be seated. And if Lynn's watching, we just send our love, and I just want to say I pray for you every day. I want to share a message. Because God has given me a word for this church. It's not one of those words that's like, yeah, that's a good word, I can preach that anywhere I go. I have a hard time with that. I always say, God, give me a message for that church. For faith alive. Give me a message. Have mercy on me. Have mercy on those people. Speak to us again. I don't want to do anything without you. I should just do nothing without you. I don't want to either. God spoke. The message he has for you today. Do nothing. Don't do anything without the Holy Spirit. Don't do anything. Don't move. Without the Holy Spirit. And sometimes we ask, what time are we in, Lord? We all know we have a Father, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And the three are one. But when we go into the Old Testament, generally speaking, even though we see the three of them manifesting, it's como un tiempo del Padre. We see it's more a time of the Father. And then we read our Gospels. We read about the incarnation of Christ. God, the Word took on flesh. He walked amongst us. And it says we saw his glory. So we see the time of the Son. But the Son comes and says to his disciples. It's better that I go. And I can only imagine how strong that must have sounded to them. It's better for you. Of course, they didn't want that to happen. Peter didn't want that to happen. When Jesus began speaking of his death, Peter said, No, don't go up to Jerusalem, Lord. Because Jerusalem meant a cross. It meant sacrifice. It meant suffering. It meant abandonment. It was that difficult, the most difficult thing. But Jesus said to him, Alejate de me, Satanás. Get behind me, Satan. Because you don't look in las cosas de arriba at the things from above. We need to look at the things of heaven. Why are you putting your agenda de Dios? We must put our sight on his agenda. Why don't you look at the things of heaven? When we can't leave behind, when we can't leave behind the natural, when we don't advance in God's perfect time. So that all the excellence and the power can be God ours. El barro, because clay is the material mass humilde que's the most humble of materials. In Guatemala are much vasija de barro. In Guatemala we still use a lot of clay pots and things. And for us Guatemalans, when you cook beans in barro in an actual clay pot. That's the most delicious thing you can have. But it's also the most humble of vessels. I don't know how many of you barro. I don't know if you have any clay pots. Probably none, right? Probably none. We still use them. And we know them well. It's just a very traditional thing for us. And we know how it's made. We know all about the process. Because that clay pot, where there's great treasure, the greatest, the most wonderful treasure. The presence of God fills that clay container. Jeremiah says that God took him to the casa del Alvarero. He took him to the potter's house. And he was at the potter's wheel and he was working on a pot. God took him and showed him the potter's house. And I could say today we are worshiping God in the casa del Alvarero. In the potter's house. Because God's house is a potter's house. All of us have gone through different from the potter's house. Because the potter's house is not just a label, the name of a congregation. Because in this place and he's working on his place. And the fact that you are here in his hand. And the fact that you're here in his house doesn't mean that you've already been perfected. You are in his hands. He is working on you. He is making you better every day. Oh, we've got to be better today than we have to serve. And then tomorrow in the potter's hands. He's working on that clay. All the time. We are his workmanship. But it's something that's never completed in this life. You know what the best thing is? That we're in the potter's hands. We're not perfect. He is working on us. But being in his hands. We are like clay. We must recognize that we still need him. So that we can become something that is filled with him. Where he can pour out his presence. He's not going looking for gold and all of these things. Because it's not about us. It's not about you. It's not about me. It's not about how good we are. It's not about how much it's not about what we are doing. It's about Jesus. It's not about us. It's about him. It's not a presence in our life. Remain. He's walking with a couple of men in Luke. And they start to talk to him about don't you know what's happened? He was put to death. But we see a message for the church. He gives a message for the church. He says, Remain in the city. Don't leave the city. Don't do anything. Don't go anywhere. They have been taught by Jesus. They were disciples. And they had seen him raise them. They had seen him cleanse lepers. They had seen how he raised. They had seen all those miracles. And they had received a great commission. But Jesus says, Don't do anything. Don't do anything.
SPEAKER_01Don't move anywhere. Until you are clothed from on high.
SPEAKER_00Until you are full of full of God. What's the problem we see in the church? We look for strategies. We look for models. And I'm not just talking about one particular church. Wherever you are, I'm not just talking about here as a church, but out there, what you do with your life. Oh, we're always looking for a better way to do things. Sometimes we turn to psychology to transform our family. But the problem is we're always looking for someone else to change our situation. The 999 steps to be a better husband. But he says, Don't do anything. No hag! Don't do anything. The early church. They had a culture they walked in. They were being filled constantly. Because we read about how they were filled in chapter two. And then we see in chapter four them being filled in the quote. And we see them being filled again and again. Because if you want to get somewhere in your life, that's what you need to do. You need to continually fill yourself up. But really, we're seeing the effects in Guatemala, things are being held back. Because fuels become so expensive. It's like about six dollars American for a gallon of gasoline. It's very expensive. And we went a little while ago to El Salvador with my wife. And we had to fill the tank a few times. Because you fill that tank up and according to nosotros. We have to fill it up to the capacity we need to do the trip that's ahead. If we've got a long trip, we fill the whole tank. But then we don't have enough to get there and come back. You gotta fill up again. And you gotta fill up again and again fill up once more. And it's the same for us. You gotta fill up your tank according to the deep. You can't have great if you're not filling up your tank to get that far. So gas is expensive. You don't just go, okay, there it is, filled it up, no big deal. You have to pay a price for that gas. You gotta pay for it. And you know, there's even different qualities of gas. Amen. I be power. There's high power, high octane. There's super, there's regular. But if you want to really go, then you put in the best gas. You gotta pay a higher price. You want your family to serve God? You want to see your children go far in the world. You wanna win your whole family. Then it's not gonna be cheap. You're gonna pay a high price. But the Holy Spirit is there to fill you. Jesus, he multiplied the price. But he paid a price. When it was early in the morning. When it was still dark. Jesus got up early. And he went out to places into desert places. And he prayed alone. The disciples saw this. He saw the miracles he did. They wanted to be like Jesus. Oh, I want to do these things. Anybody here like that want to be like Jesus? Come on, raise it high. No dije Michael Jordan, dije Jesus. Say Jesus. Just reach out. Who wants to be like Jesus in this place? And they said, Jesus. We seen how you do this and how you pray for the blind and they see. And we saw how you spit in the clay. And then you put that clay into a man's eye. No, and they said, What? Jesus! Jesus! Teach us to pray! So they they weren't asking Jesus, how do we do this? How do we do that? No, teach us to pray like you pray. They understood that the key for heaven to touch earth is prayer is prayer. It's prayer before Pentecost. There were people in an upper calling out to God. And they were blessing. We're not gonna move from this place until the Holy Spirit comes upon us. You can cause heaven to the city. You can cause heaven.
SPEAKER_01You can cause heaven to touch the Canada. You can cause heaven to touch Canada.
SPEAKER_00They said, Teach us to pray. Teach us to pray. He said, When you pray. Oren así. Pray like this. Father, our father. Because children, sons and daughters of God. In Matthew 7 is 3. That if you ask, seek and you will knock and it will be open. Because all those who receive will receive. All those who knock and will be open. All those who seek. He says, ask. He les dice. And he says to them how many of you, if your son, ask for an egg, will you give him a serpent? If he asks for bread, are you gonna give him a rock? So how much more will our father dark the Holy Spirit to ask him?
SPEAKER_01Come on, let's give him that applause.
SPEAKER_00Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus. He will give the Spirit desire the Holy Spirit. They were constantly being filled with the Lord. They were being filled again and again. They prayed to the Father. And the Father was the presence came. When the presence came, it doesn't matter what was going on. It could be an idolatry of atmosphere of idolatry. It could be an atmosphere of idolatry. It doesn't matter. The atmosphere is transformed. When there is death, life comes. The atmosphere changes. Church is alive. You are not called to sit by the government. You're not here to sit and say, I wonder what this is. God has called to you. So that heaven can atmosphere can be transformed by the Spirit by the Holy Spirit. He said, When you pray, pray like this. Our Father, santificado, hallowed be your name. May your kingdom come. And your will be done. Aquí in the tier. In Guatemala there's a city. In the años 80, back in the 80s and into the 90s, that whole village. We could say probably 90% of that community. They worshipped in an occult way. They had idols. And it was a dark place. And it was a poor place. Full of addiction in that place. And even though it was a small town, they had three jails. But then God sent a missionary to Guatemala. And his name was Norman Parrish. And of course he was Canadian. And he was a strong Canadian. And back then we would share cassettes with his messages around the country. And there was a man in the capital who heard his messages. In that village, who heard about the pastoral. And if we humble ourselves before ways, and they went. It's a cold place. It's a wet place. And they went up to the highest by that village. And they worshipped and they came lluvia free. And they sought God and they fasted on that mountain. And they called out to the Father. They were new in the creed.
SPEAKER_01But they believed this.
SPEAKER_00That he could turn it into a place of solutions later. And their prayers. And then they saw that he touched the earth. The heaven touched that community. That place is called Almolonga. A los pocos años después, within a few years, God transformed that place. Of that community came to Christ. The prisons closed. The land itself was healed. They've got bigger carrots than Bugs Bunny's got. They've got cabbages that are enormous. Everything they grow is enormous. And lots of people now go there as a tourist as well. Just to see how this place was by men and women. They believed that Jesus Christ is a very strong. He is the Lord and He saved the world. He is the same. And his Holy Spirit. That's the Spirit in this place. Some of you went to a city in Guatemala. Bailey. And a group here. Big Mike. They didn't understand what they were getting into or where they were going. It was one of the strongest places. Not just in our nation, but in Central America. And that final crusade we had in this lug. Sorry, the last time they had a crusade in that place was more than 30 years ago. And we hear the stories that the pastors who went there to reach out to that community. They couldn't even really have a crusade. Because they came and when they began to speak, they threw stones at them. And they made them leave the city. And there was a woman there who made a decree. And everyone signed to make it illegal that this could not happen again. We went for a year to prepare. And the first meeting we had in that place was horrible. Everybody was fighting. And I was there in between everybody. And we spoke and we talked and we prayed. And we began to prepare so that we could bring in an evangelism team. So that we could bring those who would bring worship. And everything was prepared. And the pastors in that place were a little afraid on us. But who's going to throw the first stone? Bailey started to play. And all the people began to sing. Hundreds of people came to Christ. People were healed. Because the Holy Spirit was there. We need to understand it's the time of the Holy Spirit. It's the time of the Holy Spirit. Don't worry, the Father's not upset that we say it's the same. Jesus isn't upset that we say it's the time of the Holy Spirit. Because three give witness in heaven. And the three are one. They are one. Jesús les habla esto. Jesus told them about this. Because Jesus always, since he was conceived, even his conception was by the Holy Spirit. And Gabriel the angel came. And he visited that young lady. And she had doubts. It's not an easy thing to digest. You're going to be a mother. She's like, okay, who's the dad then? Amen. Amen. She was asking questions. What's it going to be like? This has never happened before. And it's never happened before. What's it going to be like? It's impossible. But the angel said. The Holy Spirit will come upon you. Will come upon you. And you will conceive. In the name of the Son you have salvation. Will be salvation. He will be Emmanuel. He is God with us. Because there is nothing impossible for God. Además, tu prima. And also you have a cousin. And they called her Barry. Elizabeth. Elizabeth. La viejita. That old lady. Zachariah's wife. Zachariah's wife. That old priest. She's also conceived. There is nothing impossible for us.
SPEAKER_01It is possible for God.
SPEAKER_00Maria sale corriendo. Mary comes to the casa de su prima. She runs off and says Elizabeth. Elizabeth means I have a covenant with you. And she was the wife of Zachariah. Means God remembers you. It's a little late, but God remembered him. But it wasn't late. It was God's time. Because John had to go before Jesus. And when Mary came. Got a good example here. And when Mary came, the child that was in Elizabeth. Because he received the Holy Spirit. And when she hears that the Savior of the world is being conceived. And that seed, the very presence of God with us. And she comes up to Elizabeth. And John the Baptist jumps within her. The baby jumps within Elizabeth. Because he's filled with the Holy Spirit. That's John the Baptist. And years later. John was preaching. And John he had a captive audience. Yet hungry people there listening to him. Like this church this morning. And they were listening to John. They understood that God was going to do something amazing in their life. Or as old as Elizabeth. God can do it. Nobody's too young. No one's too old. For the purpose of God to be fulfilled. So John was preaching. And he was preaching this way. He says, Truly I baptize you with water. But there's someone coming after me. One who is greater than I.
SPEAKER_01And he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_00John knew what he was talking about. Because he received the Spirit in the womb. Church. Because that glory. It was amazing. Solomon's temple. Salomon dedicated. Solomon dedicated the temple. Sacrificaron. And they sacrificed 25 mil whales. Like 25,000 oxen. And 120,000 sheep. And there was so much blood. That heaven had to show up and respond to that sacrifice. And when he prayed, the glory of God filled the temple. And it was so thick the presence. They couldn't even stand. And the people who had consecrated themselves, the Holy One, the priest. They couldn't even stand their falling before God. And at the glory. It was so easy, so strong. I've entered Pastor Brent's office many times. And I've seen pictures. Some of the amazing men and women of God who have come to faith alive over the years. Because it's not about a building, it's about us. And I said, wow, Lester Summer. Lester Somerall's been here. And Pastor Branch started to share stories about what happened. Tanta glory. So much glory. Over the 20 years that I've visited this place. God used Pastor Britain Barry. And missionaries like him went and impacted the world, sent from this place. That went out of this house. I met Dr. Pierce. I heard his teaching. And it's just glorious. He did say, Is there anyone here that I have who has seen the former glory of this house? And he says I will shake the nations. And the beloved of the nations will come. I'd be more excited if I were you. Because Bailey and her children are gonna live that glory. Because your children are gonna live that glory.
SPEAKER_01Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I'm gonna think Hallelujah! Come on! Stay with me! Hallelujah, God!
SPEAKER_00La glory upon the Latter Glory! Díganle al que está indo suyo! Tell the person next to you. We are already in. We are already in. We are in the calendar of God.
SPEAKER_01And the power of the latter glory is coming.
SPEAKER_00Don't sit down yet. A few years ago. 20 quiz. Maybe 20. And a few pounds ago. We did a prophetic act in Guatemala. Adam traducendo a Dr. Pierce. And Adam was there with Dr. Pierce. Talking probably 20 years ago. And Dr. Pierce tied him up. They were tied together. And we were like, okay, this is crazy, what's going on? Because Dr. Pierce was kind of serious. Very educated. But we all lose our refinements in the presence of God, right? But you tying them up. Because sometimes we think that it's time to pass on the baton. I'll let their young ones run. Of course we want them to run. We want to give them a place. But in the Lord. They don't run alone. They don't run alone. We must run beside them. We've got to run with them. They've got to hear counsel. And they've got to hear what we've gained through scars. The things that have put gray hairs on our heads. We've got to go with them. They can't forget the former glory. But we see this picture in Elizabeth. If God could do it with the old man, God is gonna pour out something sharp.
SPEAKER_01Sovere to cast your house.
SPEAKER_00And I go back to the beginning. In vessels of clay. So that he can power our end. Much of many of us. We're resisting to change. And it's hard. We don't want that potter to keep molding us and shaping us. And we resist our pride rises up. And we grab hold of tradition. We grab hold of forms. But something I have learned is that clay is a material muerto. It's a dead substance. For the glory of God for the glory of God to fill. We must die. And that's what God's calling us to the Sunday. That we would die. In our lives, he would come and fill us. And families and churches. In our city. So right there where you are. Put your hand on your heart. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. It's time to mor to die. It's time to let go. It's time to give up. It's time to put ourselves in lash. Into the potter's hands. In the name of Jesus. It's time to tell me. Lord, do with my life. Do with my life. Whatever you want to do. Whatever you want to do. I'm in your hands. Everything that isn't pleasing. All that resists. All that resists, govern my life. Fill me, Holy Spirit. Fill me, Holy Spirit. Something that's between each and every one of us in God. And if God has spoken to you, He's speaking now. And if you desire, you long, you like Pastor Prince said, you're hungry. If you're hungry, if you don't want to be conformed and just be like everyone. If you say, I know God's got more. And then if God is speaking and you hear the voice of God. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Begin to speak with your God. Begin to speak with your God. Begin to call on him. And as you raise your hand, it's a sign of trouble in yourself. With your hands praise, come down to this altar. Come down to this place. Come down. Call up peace to the Lord. These are steps that we have. It will change. When you walk. You're walking, but you're coming to the city. Speak to the Lord. Oh, it's between you and too. It's between you and you. It's between you and God. It's between you and God. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Hablemos con él. Hablemos con él. Hablemos con él. Somebody's speaking. In the name of Jesus. Gracias, presencia de Dios. Thank you, presence of God. En este lugar, con tu gloria. Llena, señor, te las muévete libremente. Muy freely. En el nombre de Dios. In the name of Jesus. Porro tocó, barabasá, barabasha, barabasá, barabasha. Vamos, adoremos, adoremos.
